About Us

Tied With Love Inc. is a 5013c non-profit organization (EIN: 88-2850336) based in San Diego, California started by high school students Ellie Koff and Ella Nguyen. Tied With Love delivers handmade blankets to individuals and families who are in need. During the COVID shutdown, Ellie and Ella started making blankets together as a hobby and giving them to elderly family members who were isolated. One day in early 2022 they came across a story about a boy named Matthew Rushin who is an autistic adult who was incarcerated because the characteristics of his autism were used against him a crime that he did not commit. Ellie and Ella wanted to show him kindness and support and sent a blanket to his home. They continued to send blankets to other recipients and linked up with other non-profits such as Casas de Luz, Solutions for Change, and Father Joes Village. Since 2020, Ellie and Ella have been inspired to connect with individuals and families who are experience difficult times in their lives. 

 

Each blanket is handmade using jumbo yarn. It can take up to three hours to make each blanket. In the past two years, Ellie and Ella recruited several high school students to help Tied With Love. They have blanket-making gatherings often and teach volunteers how to make a blanket from scratch. They decided to use the TOMS shoes business model to raise money for their cause. For every blanket ordered, a second blanket is made for someone who is in need of love, support, and comfort.

 They hope that by delivering blankets to communities in need, they can spread both love and support to individuals in their community.
